WAPE has existed for as long as I can remember, and it’s always been called “The Big Ape”. Their commercials even had audio of someone doing a “Tarzan yell”. However, WAPE The Big Ape goes back even further than I can remember, long before I was born it was on “The Mighty 690” AM Radio. I recently found my Mom’s old “Big Ape Club Card” that dates back to probably the mid to late 1960’s. A pretty cool piece of Jacksonville and radio history. Here it is:<\/p>\n
